Römer, imperial cathedral and the new old town centre

The Römer, Frankfurt’s historic town hall, and the Römerberg, the square next to it, are witnesses to important events – from imperial coronations to trade fairs and today’s Christmas market. The historic Coronation Trail leads from the Römerberg through the new Old Town to St Bartholomew’s Cathedral, the largest sacred building in Frankfurt and once the coronation site of the Roman-German emperors. The lovingly restored half-timbered houses in the old town offer wonderful photo opportunities, while small wine bars, cafés and shops invite you to linger.
